MABAC – Priory Park – Reigate Priory A.C.

This is a 5 mile Cross Country event in the MABAC Running League series. The senior race is just over 8 km (5 miles) there are also joggers and junior events of about 4 km (2.5 miles). The event is open ONLY to members and guests of the MABAC clubs.

Sunday 3rd March 2024 – 10am

Thursday – the course is in pretty reasonable condition. There are areas where there is some thick mud, but it is in much better shape than it was a few years ago. There is only one significant puddle and that can be avoided. Reigate and Banstead Council has done a lot of work to improve what was traditionally the worst part (from the gate onto Park Lane up to the sharp turn up onto The Greensand Way ridge), widening it and surfacing it with compacted stones. I would suggest that trail shoes are appropriate footwear; I would not advise wearing spikes.

As far as car parking is concerned I would suggest that you head for either Bancroft Road multi-storey ( https://what3words.com/struck.refers.rigid) or Upper West St (https://what3words.com/lower.bucks.palace) car parks, both of which are just a short walk from the start. All car parks in Reigate are £2 for up to 4 hours (or £1 if you think you can do it in under 2 hours). There is a car park in Bell St but I would advise against parking there as this tends to fill up early with families with children and dog-walkers; not to mention the Junior Parkrun immediately before our event. Do not park in Morrison’s car park as they have reduced stays to 2 hours and are hot on penalising people over staying this limit.

Although the café in Priory Park is currently closed for refurbishment there is a pop-up coffee stall in front of it and there are a lot of cafés in Reigate High St if you want to venture beyond the park. Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Directions to Priory Park

Directions: From Dorking, take the A25 into Reigate and continue round the one-way system until heading West. Take first left into Bancroft Road (as if towards Bell Street and A217 Horley, Gatwick). In Bancroft Road the pay car park is immediately on the right. You might find roadside parking by exploring West Reigate leaving a 10-15-minute walk to the venue.
